Hello, fellow adventurers!
I’m thrilled to share a significant update on my writing journey with you all. It’s a moment I’vebeen pushing towards for months, and it feels fantastic to finally be here. I have officially completed the first draft of Part One of my novel, The World Never Seek—that’s the first fourteen chapters of Book 1!
Reaching this milestone feels like cresting a hill on a long hike. The initial climb was tough, filled with world-building, character introductions, and setting the core conflicts in motion. Now, for the first time, I can pause, catch my breath, and look back at the path I’ve laid.
This brings me to my current task: a preliminary examination of these chapters. This isn’t just a simple proofread for typos or grammatical errors. It’s a deeper, more structural review. I’m rereading with a critical eye, asking myself the important questions:
- Does the pacing feel right?
- Are the character motivations clear?
- Is the foundation of the world solid enough to build upon for the rest of the book?
Interestingly, this process has become more complex and exciting than I’d anticipated. When I first created my outline, I had a clear vision for the story. But a story, much like a living world, has a way of growing on its own. As I wrote, new ideas sprouted—a piece of lore I hadn’t considered, a character dynamic that sparked with unexpected chemistry, a thread of history that suddenly demanded to be pulled.
I’ve decided to embrace these new aspects. While they weren’t in my original blueprint, I realize now that they are not detours; they are enhancements. These unplanned additions are precisely what will transform the world from a mere setting into a place that feels lived-in and real. They add layers of culture, history, and intrigue that I believe will make for a richer and more welcoming world for you, the reader, to step into.
So, my way forward is being refined. I’m taking this time to seamlessly weave these new, vibrant threads into the existing tapestry of the first fourteen chapters. It’s a bit of extra work now, but I know it will make the entire novel stronger, more cohesive, and ultimately, a more immersive experience.
